A160 /A180 Port of Immingham Improvements

The Port of Immingham is one of UK’s busiest ports, handling 55 million tonnes of goods a year and contributing approximately £460m a year to the regional economy. A large number of heavy goods vehicles travel from the port on to the A160 each day, leading to congestion. OSL were commissioned to divert cables for signalling, telecoms and E&P to allow the sliding in of a new road bridge on the A160 under the freight line to Immingham docks.

WORKS UNDERTAKEN
The project scheme was a key strategic link constantly prone to congestion due to the high proportion of heavy goods vehicles plying on the route. This required a fully collaborative approach to managing numerous technical challenges and risks. The development has and will continue to provide better access to the Port of Immingham, promote growth, reduced journey times and generate economic benefits in the area.

  • Work completed on time, with the bridge move undertaken successfully
  • No disruption to operating freight line
  • Cable management system improved to ensure existing cabling now safely housed
  • All cables well marked and recorded for future signalling improvements
