Southampton as part of the Amey Colas S&C renewals programme is strategic in terms of the affect on the operation of the network. This required the project to be planned and prepared in advance of the actual track renewal works. This lead to 5 stages of work on weekend to reduce the impact.

OSL’s advanced preparation allowed the weekend closures to be successful and the track returned to service on or before time. With testing managed by OSL and prep testing under-taken in advance, few snags were left at the end of each stage.

OSL works included the complete; signalling and E&P works associated with Southampton S&C Renewals; Design, pre-fabrication of Locs and power supply cubicles, installation and testing & commissioning of; points, heating, power supply and signalling.
