Collaboration in Action at Beckton Depot
This week marked the 60% Interdisciplinary Design Check (IDC) milestone for the Beckton Depot Southern Expansion Concept Design, an important step in the progression of the project.
The concept design has been developed through a series of regular collaborative sessions led by AECOM, working closely with representatives from Transport for London, Balfour Beatty, KeolisAmey Docklands, Hitachi Rail, and OSL Global.
Reaching the 60% IDC provided an opportunity for the project team to review progress collectively, reflect on what has been achieved to date and identify the challenges ahead as the design continues to mature. The concept design phase has already enabled a number of refinements, helping to reduce projected costs and environmental impact while also improving operational and maintenance considerations.
These improvements have been driven by a strong ‘best for project’ approach, with all parties working collaboratively across disciplines to balance technical requirements, constructability, sustainability and long-term performance.
OSL is proud to contribute to a project where open collaboration and integrated design thinking are central to decision-making and where early-stage engineering work is delivering tangible benefits for the next phases of delivery.
