Enabling 18 TPH on the Windrush Line

OSL Global was engaged by MPI Limited to deliver the SSI data change required to support the introduction of 18 trains per hour (TPH) on the Windrush Line, as part of a wider capacity enhancement programme for Transport for London.

The scope of works included the controlled disconnection of the existing SSI interlocking, replacement of the geographic data chips, and full recommissioning of the system. Comprehensive testing was undertaken to verify correct functionality and to confirm seamless integration with associated systems, including the MMI, Technicians Terminal, Automatic Route Setting (ARS) and Train Describer (TD).

Given the number of interfaces and the operational sensitivity of the route, the works required careful planning, robust signalling expertise and close coordination across multiple disciplines. OSL successfully delivered the activity efficiently and ahead of programme, ensuring the interlocking operated as intended and supported the increased service frequency.

This project was delivered through strong collaboration with industry partners, combining trusted capability in signalling design, telecoms and testing. The successful outcome reflects the value of experienced teams working together to manage complex system changes on live operational railways.

Well done to everyone involved in delivering this important milestone for the Windrush Line.
