Successful DLR XCX Stage Commissioning at Beckton Depot
OSL Global is pleased to have supported AECOM in the successful delivery of the Docklands Light Railway’s XCX Stage commissioning at Beckton Depot.
The commissioning was completed over the weekend and introduced a series of important upgrades to support operational capability at the depot. The works included new depot access routes, Train Wash Plant functionality, Test Track integration, signalling updates, points, track circuits, interlocking modifications, PLC interfaces and Control Centre updates.
Together, these works help increase depot functionality and support the wider future expansion of Beckton Depot as the DLR continues to prepare for changing operational and maintenance requirements.
Supporting Beckton Depot Upgrade Works
Beckton Depot plays a key role in the operation and maintenance of the Docklands Light Railway fleet. As part of the wider depot upgrade programme, new and modified infrastructure is required to support replacement rolling stock, future service demand and the continued maintenance of existing fleet assets.
OSL Global has supported AECOM on the Beckton Depot Upgrade Project, contributing signalling design, Design CRE support, construction support and commissioning cover.
For the XCX Stage commissioning, OSL Global’s team supported delivery through signalling design, implementation, testing and commissioning activity, working closely with AECOM and the wider DLR delivery teams.

Successful rail commissioning depends on careful planning, strong technical coordination and clear interface management between all delivery parties.
Through detailed planning, collaborative working and proactive support throughout the delivery phase, the team helped achieve a safe and efficient commissioning, completed ahead of the planned programme and enabling an earlier handback.
